As I begin my 30th year with Mary Kay, it's so amazing to reflect on how this career has impacted my life. While I don't place a great deal of value in the "mystery" of numbers, I did marvel at the fact that our Area brought 81 new Consultants into our family on the day I signed my agreement - November 18, 1981! Never in our illustrious history have we ever shared with 81 people in ONE DAY! I am so proud of you!
Honestly, it's very difficult to even imagine how my life would have been spent, had I not been "randomly" selected to be a contestant on the Price is Right...and for that single taping of the game show to be the one that offered Mary Kay products as a prize; that the product would then be immediately "pulled" at the request of the Mary Kay Legal Department...never to be offered again.
I just returned this past week from our NSD Retreat in Dallas, where we all sat at the feet of two incredible Mary Kay pioneers - Anne Newbury and Carolyn Ward...and their message was powerful, yet simple: carry on the traditions and culture created and passed on from Mary Kay Ash, to the generations that follow us...and do so with integrity, morality, character, compassion, sisterhood, love, and persistence.
I was asked to prepare the closing "wrap up" for our gathering of Nationals, and as often happens, I did not have the inspiration to put anything on paper. But in my earnest prayers, came the Bible verses, and the message to deliver (at 5am, only hours before our event opened)and while I had no idea what Anne and Carolyn would speak about...the wrap up was exactly tied to their message. I always say "accidental?" No!"Godcidental!"
Ours is a precious gathering of women supporting women...creating leaders...developing systems...sharing with and encouraging each other to become better wives, mothers, citizens in the community. And...without question...supporting and maintaining Mary Kay's true mission - of a company yielded to God's Soverign Will, doing unto others as we would have them do to us, and living out daily her priorities of God first, Family second, and Career Third.
Reflecting on this anniversary day....and marking today as the official beginning of my 30th year....I am more excited that ever to watch and celebrate with you - and watch as your dreams become realities!
And did I say...how grateful I am...that this was the path - chosen for me - to be used as an "agent of change" for His Glory...and to "partner" with all of you, in this precious sorority called Mary Kay Cosmetics!
